Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What medium and tools do you use?
A: I use graphite and different types of charcoal on occasion or if needed, and small brushes for blending.
Q: Do you draw in color?
A: I do not offer portraits in color for purchase at this time. However, I am taking personal time to practice using colored pencil, and may offer full-color portraits later in the future.
Q: What is the drawing surface and sizes currently offered?
A: Drawing, mixed media, or bristol paper. Sizes of paper in inches: 4×6, 8×10, 11×14.
Q: Is there a limit to the amount of individuals on one sheet?
A: A typical group / family portrait will fill well on the 11×14, and only one person on the 8×10 inch and smaller sheet sizes. I will use my best judgment for fit, and adjust the orientation of the page for large drawings and of group photos.
Q: What kind of photo should I send?
Choose your clearest and brightest photo, so that I may capture the best of you (or the best of others) in the piece. I cannot work with blurry / dark / “shadowy” images, so the more detail the better! Please send to info info@sbrownillustration.art with your name / transaction confirmation.
Q: Will you provide a frame?
A: I will protect the finished drawing in a minimal black frame. You may carefully transfer the drawing to a frame of your choosing after completion of the transaction and delivery.
Q: Will you use my completed (and / or unfinished) drawing in your marketing / advertising?
A: Yes. I retain the right to use images of complete and incomplete work in my marketing. If you do not wish for me to include your likeness (or the likeness of the individual(s) in the submitted photo) in my advertising, then please express your desire for privacy upon sending the non-refundable down payment (half of the full cost) and photo submission.
The drawn images of celebrities / public figures are currently used for my portfolio / marketing purposes but they are for sale while supply lasts, like my original paintings (email for more information). Apart from some of my work being seen by some public figures online, as of yet my work is owned by Matt Maeson, and Terence “Bud” Crawford.
Q: What are the accepted forms of payment and the transaction process?
A: The two acceptable forms of payment include cash for in-person orders at vendor exhibitions only and Cash App to $brown97S. Checks are not accepted. Include for “artwork” in the note section on Cash App.
Half of the full purchase price is non-refundable and due prior to the start of the project. The remaining half is due at the time of completion before it is delivered and released to you. Full payment is required at the time of purchase if using Etsy or other online platforms chosen by the artist.
Q: What is the approximate turnaround time?
My goal is to present this to you as quickly as possible. And the turnaround time may extend or lessen based on the complexity/style of the work. Please let me know what you would like between realism, the look most of my drawings have, and crosshatching.

- 8×10 | 5-7 business days | $160.00

Q: How do you price your work?
A study in light, shade, and form. Hand created on drawing, sketch, or bristol paper, with a study of facial features and emotions that I’ve acquired over the years. Each custom piece is available from 4×6 inch to 11×14 inch paper. Prices, and turnaround, will vary upon size. The base price for each sheet is listed below, and, with $20 for each additional person on it.
4×6 | 60.00

11×14 | 260.00
Q: Will you mail or deliver it to me, or should I pick up my order?
A: By mail for $15 added to the price of art. If delivered to you, it is $10.00 in addition to your final price. Delivery and pick-up orders arrive to you in solid color gift bag.
It is truly an honor when I am chosen to craft something this special. I take pride in my artwork, and hope to share that value with you soon. Thank you.
